When and where is Current 2022 taking place?
Current is scheduled to take place in-person October 4-5, 2022 at the Austin Convention Center and The Fairmont Austin in Austin, Texas.
What is Current 2022 and how is it different from Kafka Summit?
Kafka Summit is the global user conference for the Apache Kafka® Community. Current 2022: The Next Generation of Kafka Summit expands the scope of the event to include the broader community of data streaming technologies and is the industry event for data streaming.
How is Current different from Kafka Summit?
Current 2022 will include content and speakers from the broad ecosystem of data streaming technology providers, not just focus on Apache Kafka.
Will there be other streaming technologies beyond Apache Kafka featured at Current 2022?
Because this will be an industry event for the data streaming industry, it will include sessions on other data streaming technologies, as determined by the Program Committee.
What timezone will Current 2022 take place in?
Current 2022 will take place in Central Daylight Time.
Who should attend Current 2022?
Data practitioners (developers, architects, operators), influencers, and leaders who are the driving forces behind innovative data applications within their organizations.
How many people will be at Current 2022?
We expect to host 2,500 data streaming enthusiasts at the inaugural Current 2022.
Who will be the keynote speakers at Current 2022?
The keynote program is currently in development and will be announced at a later date.
Who is speaking at Current 2022?
Speaking opportunities will be determined by a call for papers process and voted on by a Program Committee. Call for papers will open April 25th and will close June 26th. Speaker notifications will go out July 26th.
How do I submit a talk for Current 2022?
Submit your talk via the Call for Papers button within the Speakers tab by June 26th.
When will the full agenda be announced?
We expect to publish the detailed agenda in early August, after the speaker notifications are sent out.
Do I need to register for Current 2022?
Yes, all attendees need to register in advance to attend.
How much do conference passes cost and what does that include?
Conference passes range from $749 to $1099 USD and include access to conference keynotes, breakout sessions, expo hall, meals, and social activities.
Is there a group discount?
Yes, there is a 20% group discount if you register for three or more attendees. Please contact organizers@currentevent.io to request the group discount.
Do speakers attend Current 2022 for free?
One of the perks of being a speaker at Current 2022 is a complimentary conference pass.
Is Current 2022 going to have a virtual component?
We are planning for an in-person event + a limited virtual experience for those who cannot join us in person. The virtual experience will include the keynote programs, a limited content track, and come live interview programming. More details to come!
How do I request a press or analyst pass?
Please contact organizers@currentevent.io to request this type of pass and provide your credentials.
What are event organizers doing in light of COVID-19 virus?
Current Organizers will adhere to local and national safety parameters as deemed appropriate by relevant authorities and in collaboration with our venue partner. Organizers will continue to consult public authorities and health and safety experts as the event nears. We will share more detailed plans and recommendations with all participants as appropriate. All attendees are required to adhere to these health and safety requirements as deemed necessary by local health authorities and the venue site.
Will Current 2022 require masks and/or vaccination proof?
Current Organizers will adhere to local guidelines, which at present do not require masks or vaccinations for groups. Attendees may of course wear masks if they choose to.
Are hotel arrangements included or do I need to book accommodations on my own?
Hotel accommodations aren’t included with your registration pass. However, we will have a discounted room rate available for Current 2022 attendees at the Fairmont Austin. You must register for the event before you can book a hotel room at the discounted rate of $299 plus tax (based on availability). Hotel reservation information will be provided upon the completion of your registration. Please note the discounted room block will close on Friday, September 2, 2022, so be sure to book before then.
Will the Fairmont Austin charge an advanced deposit?
You will be charged one night room and tax 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival date.
What is the Fairmont Austin’s cancelation policy?
Reservations need to be canceled 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival date. Reservations canceled less than 72 hours in advance will forfeit the one night room and tax deposit.

You may transfer your conference registration to another person within your organization by notifying organizers@currentevent.io by October 1, 2022.
If you must cancel, please notify organizers@currentevent.io by September 1, 2022. You will receive a refund for the ticket you chose, less a 25% cancellation fee. Cancelations made after September 1, 2022, as well as "no-shows," are liable for the full registration fee.
In the event that Current 2022 is canceled by Confluent, Inc., registration fees only will be refunded. Cancelations of travel reservations and hotel reservations made directly with a hotel are the responsibility of the attendee.
